We are pleased to invite you to a special talk organized by AHK Chile in collaboration with the Heidelberg Center Latin America, addressing the perspectives and implications of the EU–MERCOSUR Agreement for Chile, Europe, and the broader international context.
The EU–MERCOSUR Agreement represents a potential turning point in the economic and strategic relationship between both regions. Beyond tariffs and trade flows, it opens a new stage of cooperation in areas such as standards, sustainability, value chains, innovation, and geopolitics.
This session will explore the key legal, economic, and transnational dimensions of the agreement, as well as the opportunities and challenges it may bring for companies, institutions, and policymakers in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Speakers
Prof. Dr. Marc-Philippe Weller
Director of the Institute for Private International and Comparative Law and Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Diversity at Heidelberg University. His research focuses on international private law, corporate responsibility, climate litigation, and the intersection between geopolitics and international conflicts of duties in corporate law.
Andrea Nicolaj
Policy Officer at the Delegation of the European Union to Chile. He specializes in international relations and EU external policy, with a focus on trade, cooperation, and the strengthening of bi-regional relations between Europe and Latin America. In his role, he contributes to the analysis and promotion of strategic agreements such as the EU–MERCOSUR framework, fostering dialogue between public and private sector stakeholders.
